A Patent specification must contain one or more drawings, if an invention's embodiments cannot be disclosed by textual description alone. This basic rule is applicable in all important patent systems such as the US, the Europe, and the PCT. The US Patent Rules specify the requirements regarding patent drawings.

Almost all inventions in the engineering fields will require several sheets of drawings to fully and particularly describe an invention. Drawing figures with appropriate figure numerals sprinkled around them is therefore a usual component of a patent specification (except in chemistry and biotechnology areas). Well developed drawings act as the basis for ascertaining the adequacy of a patent disclosure - whether or not the text description and drawings adequately support the claimed invention; and disclose the best mode of the invention.

Good quality patent drawings command competence, technical precision, and time. Clairvolex provides high quality patent drawings to companies and law firms across the globe at an affordable cost.
